Young girl killed, 3 injured in Doylestown crash

A road mishap claimed the life of a 9-year-old girl and three injured three persons after a two-vehicle crash in Doylestown, Bucks County.

It accident took place around 6:30 o’clock early evening of Wednesday on the Route 611 bypass, near Broad Street.

According to authorities, a Ford Mustang collided with a Honda CRV at the northbound side of the bypass. The impact of the collision was so strong that it caused one of the cars to roll over and another to crash into a median.

Officials stated that the child was a passenger in the CRV with her 55-year-old grandmother. The grandmother suffered from serious injuries and immediately airlifted to Temple University Hospital.

Two other victims were identified as the 32-year-old driver of the Mustang and his female passenger. They were rushed to Abington Hospital in serious condition.

Investigators spent some days investigating the scene and looking at the wreckage thoroughly. The crash is now considered a criminal investigation as it was so horrible.

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler stated that they have to do a very thorough reconstruction. They have to talk to some people who were on the road at the time. They will be reconstructing all the information to determine if any criminality was involved.

Investigators learned that the Honda was traveling along the left lane doing about 55 miles an hour when it was rear ended by the Mustang. The Honda was then ended up off the side of the road about 200 yards from the point of impact. The Mustang also travelled another 100 yards further and landed in the median.

Investigators discovered that the Mustang Cobra was well-equipped for speed and was fitted out with after market performance enhancers.

One witness told the police that he was doing about 75 miles per hour when the Mustang easily overtook past him moments before the crash.

DA Heckler surmised that speed was a significant factor in the causing of the collision.

The police are not releasing the names of the young victim and her grandmother who remains in critical condition, stating only that they are from Plumstead Township.

They are not also giving out the name of the 32 year old driver of the Mustang, who resides in Pipersville.

Investigators said it might take them a week to rule if there will be any criminal charges.
